At Sport & Spine Physiotherapy, we help people in Newcastle and the Hunter region move better, live without pain, and return to the activities that matter most. Whether you’re dealing with ongoing discomfort, an exercise injury, a work-related strain, or recovery after surgery, our physiotherapists combine evidence-based care with hands-on treatments that get results.
Physiotherapy is a health service that focuses on understanding how movement, posture, strength and joint function impact your pain and performance. Using clinical assessment and movement testing, our team identifies the root causes of your symptoms and creates a personalised plan to improve your function — not just temporarily ease discomfort.
We work with adults and athletes of all ages and activity levels, including people with:
Back pain and neck pain
Shoulder, hip and knee pain
Muscle strains and ligament sprains
Sports injuries and recovery needs
Post-operative rehabilitation
Repetitive strain injuries (work or hobby related)
Balance or mobility concerns
Joint stiffness and loss of movement
Discuss your goals
You’ll begin by discussing the reason for your appointment and how your symptoms developed.
Complete an assessment
You'll go through a series of movements, and depending on the injury we’ll also perform a sequence of physical tests.
Discover your options
A conversation and questions, along with a physical examination, are usually enough for the physio to arrive at a diagnosis from there we will discuss the treatment options with you.
Start a custom treatment plan
Your Sport & Spine physiotherapist will develop a treatment plan with you that will incorporate a number of different options that are best suited to you and your symptoms in order for you to achieve your goals.
We blend clinical skills with the latest research to help you improve movement, reduce pain and restore function. Some common approaches include:
Hands-on movement therapy
Targeted exercise programs
Functional retraining for everyday activities
Movement pattern correction
Pain education and self-management strategies
Rehabilitation after injury or surgery
Some discomfort during movement retraining or manual therapy may occur, but treatment is always adjusted to your tolerance and recovery stage. Your comfort and safety are always priority.
Improvement timelines vary depending on the condition, individual factors, and adherence to the treatment plan. Consistency and following the therapist's advice can expedite progress.
Experienced clinicians with decades of musculoskeletal and movement training.
Personalised care plans based on your goals and lifestyle.
Collaborative care — we communicate with your GP, surgeon or other providers as needed.
We don’t treat symptoms in isolation — our focus is to restore your ability to move freely, prevent recurrent injury and help you stay active and healthy.
